ATI Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions FAQs

Pricing & Rental Terms

Q: How much will my tank cost?

A: The price depends entirely on your specific requirements. However, our quotation will include all services, delivery, and support—there are absolutely no hidden extras. For long-term projects, any hire extending beyond six months works out significantly cheaper per day.

Q: What’s the minimum hire period?

A: We offer flexible short-term options with a minimum hire period of just three weeks. While many industry competitors enforce mandatory four-week terms as standard, our shorter blocks help you keep costs down for temporary storage.

Q: Do you offer a price match guarantee?

A: Yes. We are highly market-competitive and provide a formal Price Match Guarantee if you find a lower hire rate for an equivalent tank or silo elsewhere. All of our official quotations are fully comprehensive to eliminate hidden fees or post-hire surprises.

Q: Do you have a loading charge?

A: Yes, a nominal fee of £25 per unit is charged for each loading and unloading operation. We will load and unload your tank at our depot using our 18-tonne forklift, and we are happy to load straight onto your vehicles if required.

Q: What insurance coverage do I need while the tank is on my site?

A: As the hirer, you are responsible for the equipment from the moment it is offloaded until our transport team collects it. You must ensure your Hired-In Plant Insurance covers the full replacement value of the tank against theft, vandalism, or accidental damage. Additionally, you should maintain adequate Public Liability and Environmental Pollution Insurance to cover any site-specific risks or accidental spills associated with the substance you are storing.

Tank Selection & Technical Specifications

Q: What’s the biggest capacity you offer?

A: Our storage tanks go up to an enormous 111m³ (25,000 gallons) capacity.

Q: What technical features come as standard?

A: All tanks come equipped with 4″ ASA 150 flanged fill-and-discharge lines as standard. These can be customised and fitted with either:

  • 206 Weco connectors
  • 2″ BSP nipples
  • Hydrant fittings or cam locks
  • 2″ ball float valves
  • 2″, 3″, or 4″ Bauer connectors
  • Any bespoke configuration fitted out to your exact requirements.

Tanks also come complete with a 4″ goose-neck vent, a secure top-hinged manway for safe access/inspection, a 1″ clear PVC level indicator, and pre-slung lifting strops and shackles (certified for lifting when empty only).

Q: What’s the lead-in time for a customised tank?

A: Because all of our tanks come built with most of the features you will ever need, they can be rapidly tailored to your requirements. Unless your tank requires extensive structural fabrication, a customised unit can still be dispatched to your site by tomorrow.

Q: What substances are strictly prohibited in your tanks?

A: To protect equipment integrity and ensure environmental safety, we enforce strict guidelines on stored materials. Our standard tanks are ideal for water, fuel, oils, effluents, and non-corrosive industrial liquids. However, highly volatile explosives, radioactive materials, and highly concentrated acids or alkalis that react with carbon steel or standard gaskets are strictly prohibited unless you are hiring a specialist, lined chemical tank. Always state your exact substance and provide a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) during checkout so our technical team can verify material compatibility.

Q: Can you supply a tank for offshore use?

A: Yes. Many of our single-skin and bunded tanks are fully suitable for offshore environments. We also maintain a specialised range of chemical tanks designed specifically for the rigorous demands of the offshore industry.

Site Readiness & Delivery Logistics

Q: Can you deliver my tank by tomorrow? How quickly can a tank be delivered in an emergency?

A: Yes. Next-day delivery is available for almost all of our standard tanks, and we can frequently respond to site emergencies, equipment failures, or sudden flooding within 24 to 48 hours. Depending on transport availability & location, we might even be able to deliver it the very same day. Give our team a call immediately to check tracking.

Q: Can I collect my tank directly?

A: Yes. If you possess the correct commercial haulage and lifting equipment, you are welcome to pick up your tank from our Great Yarmouth base. Most customers, however, find it more convenient to utilise our delivery network.

Q: Can I take my tank abroad?

A: Yes, our tanks have been successfully deployed internationally to countries like Norway, Denmark, and Kazakhstan. Because we only deliver directly within the UK, you will need to arrange to pick up your tank from our Great Yarmouth base if you intend to transport it overseas.

Q: How much space and ground preparation will I need to clear for my tank?

A: Our largest 111m³ tanks cover a physical footprint of 12.5m by 3.7m, but most available units are much smaller. You must prepare a solid, level, stable ground surface capable of holding the weight and leave ample clearance for the tank to be unloaded by a lorry or crane. If horizontal space is a major constraint on your site, consider hiring a vertical tank instead.

Q: Are your transport drivers cleared for high-security or restricted facilities?

A: Yes. We routinely service highly secure, sensitive, and critical infrastructure projects. Our transport drivers hold necessary site credentials, including DBS checks, CSCS cards for construction sites, and specialised security passes required for airports, military bases, utility plants, and rail facilities. Please notify us of your site’s specific security protocols at least 48 hours before delivery so we can assign a pre-cleared driver.

Maintenance, Compliance & Off-Hire

Q: Do your tanks come fully certified and safety-tested before arrival?

A: Absolutely. Safety and compliance are our top priorities. Before any tank leaves our depot, it undergoes a rigorous multi-point inspection. This includes structural integrity checks, pressure testing of lines, validation of bund seals, and full certification of all integrated lifting lugs under relevant lifting regulations. Every tank arrives clean, certified, and fully compliant with current UK environmental and safety standards.

Q: Do your tanks come with lifting equipment?

A: Yes. All of our tanks come pre-slung and fully certified with lifting strops and shackles in accordance with relevant regulatory bodies, allowing for immediate, safe positioning when empty.

Q: Are your tanks clean upon arrival?

A: Yes. Every single tank undergoes a comprehensive clean using specialised detergents and high-pressure cleaning equipment before it is released from our depot for delivery.

Q: How long can I keep the tank?

A: You can keep your tank for as long as your project requires. Some of our fleet units have been deployed on client sites for many years and are still going strong. If you encounter any mechanical or operational maintenance issues during your hire, our engineering team will come out and carry out repairs for you directly on site.

Q: Can you collect my tank when I have finished with it? / What are my cleaning responsibilities before return?

A: Yes, we will gladly pick up your tank when you no longer need it. However, tanks must be returned to us completely empty and free of residual chemicals, solid sludge, or heavy oil coatings. If a tank is returned with internal contamination, secondary commercial cleaning and hazardous environmental waste disposal fees will apply. For specialised liquid applications, please consult our support team before off-hire so we can advise on standard flush-out protocols.
