There was a very special surprise waiting for the ATI directors this week, courtesy of our Chief Welder, Matt.
For some time, Matt had been quietly working behind the scenes on a project that was kept under wraps from almost everyone at ATI – creating a miniature version of one of our tanks entirely by hand.
Yesterday, it was finally time for the big reveal.
The finished tank is an impressive showcase of Matt’s welding and fabrication skills, with plenty of care and attention going into recreating an exact replica, just on a much smaller scale.
Matt’s day-to-day work plays an important part in maintaining and repairing our tank and silo fleet, but this project gave him the opportunity to put those skills to use in a completely different way – and the directors were delighted with the result.
Look out for our miniature tank on display next year.
